Nominations open for 7th series of prestigious International Management Action Award Open for Nomination
Nominations are open for the 7th International Management Action Award (IMAA), one of the most prestigious management awards in Singapore.
Set up in 1999, a total of 23 men and women of outstanding leadership and management qualities have been conferred this award to date.
The theme of his year’s award, which will be handed out by Mr Lim Boon Heng, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Guest-of-Honour at an awards ceremony on 15 September, 2010, is “Compassion in Crisis – Caring for Staff and Society in Turbulent Times”.
The award is open to individuals in the public sector, arts, social services and other areas. Recipients are expected to share their best practices and contribute to management excellence in Singapore.
“This year’s award is taking place at a time when mangers have to face diverse and unprecedented challenges in leading their organizations through a major global economic crisis. Leaders have to balance economic realities with humanity and care for their colleagues, society at large and the environment,” said Mr Sat Pal Khattar, Chairman, 7th IMAA Awards Council.
Mr George Huang, President, CMI said, “The globalised economy requires a different form of leadership. Managers must have the capabilities to unleash the creativity and potential of their workforce across culture and geographical boundaries.”
Candidates will undergo a rigorous selection process. Mr Saw Ken Wye, Chairman, CMI Singapore and a recipient of the IMAA in 2000 said, “The key to the award is how nominees demonstrate these qualities of leadership and humanity in their management actions. Nominees in the 7th IMAA will have every opportunity to share with the Selection Panel their achievements as well as their compassion.”
The closing date for submission is 7 June 2010.
